A full day spent moving things around and doing a deep clean of areas that had not seen the light for the previous 364 days? We have come to associate spring cleaning with a thorough cleaning of our homes around March/April, the beginning of springtime. But did you know that prior to the advent of the vacuum cleaner, spring cleaning was traditionally done because it became warm enough in March to open doors and windows letting out the dust but not warm enough for insects to be a problem?
With your trusty vacuum cleaner always on hand, you probably don’t need to let out the dust once a year. That is our number one reason why you don’t need a yearly deep clean!
Number two, spring cleaning checklists…need I say more? Google ‘spring cleaning checklists’ and you’ll find tons of checklists with at least 10 tasks broken down into sub-tasks. Anyone would find those overwhelming unless they’re Martha Stewart telling people how to thoroughly clean their home over 3 pages (including 8 steps to perfectly clean windows)! Our advice: break your checklists into weekly tasks and save the biggest tasks for monthly or quarterly cleaning. This way you won’t need an overwhelming spring cleaning day or checklist.
Three, if you live in London you’re probably busiest as the weather gets warmer. There’s work, socialising with friends, family and planning for all three. You want a home that is constantly peaceful, clean and organised but have little time to spend on your knees scrubbing the little corner that no one gets to see. You also most likely don’t need to have your walls washed or your unused bed & table linen washed. These are tasks that are often unnecessary and items that are best preserved by minimal washing (for walls, if they are so bad just have them re-painted a new lovely colour).
Finally, if you have read this post, you are probably like me and find it mentally exhausting to think of spring cleaning or spring cleaning checklists. If it takes too long to read a checklist, it is probably ten times harder to actually perform those tasks. But you don’t have to! If you really want that crisp, floral spring feeling in your home you can have it with less stress by booking the best cleaners to do a deep clean to start you off.
The best way to go without spring cleaning ever, is to enjoy the satisfaction of a relatively clean home all year-round. You can do it yourself or delegate to family and friends. Review Of IRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaners
If you are thinking of getting one of these IRobot Roomba vacuum cleaners for mum or dad as a father’s or mother’s day gift, you may want to find out more before committing a few hundred dollars for these automated machines.
I have the IRobot Roomba 580 vaccum cleaning robot, so I shall tell you what I think of this machine. First the features: It is able to cover 4 rooms on a single battery charge, a Wireless Command Center which is the same as a remote control, on-board scheduling, self-charging home base, comes with 11 brushes and 7 filters. This is the latest generation of robots developed by the company which has improved performance and durability compared to its predecessors. The on-board scheduling feature allows you to preset up to seven cleaning times per week for the robot to clean your carpet whether you are at home or not. The Roomba is able to clean four rooms on a single charge, gets into difficult areas like wall edges and beneath furniture. The Roomba automatically adjusts from carpets to hard floors and back again. There is a Virtual Wall Lighthouse feature that confines Roomba to one room until the entire floor is vacuumed before moving on to the next room. Isn’t that cool?
When its battery is running low, or when the carpet cleaning job is complete, Roomba automatically returns to the self-charging Home Base to dock and recharge. If you feel like ‘playing’ with the Roomba, you can control and steer Roomba remotely using the Wireless Command Center. The 580 model also has a silver faceplate so you can change Roomba’s look to match your home decor.
So what’s good about the IRobot Roomba 580 vacuum cleaner? It cleans effectively, cleans under furniture, is able to cover the whole room, pet friendly, hassle free operation, long battery life or should I say sufficient battery life for the entire house. For dog or cat owners, having the Roomba is bliss as it effectively takes in all the hair and fur. This vacuum cleaner robot does not get tired and it feeds itself when it is power hungry. I think the best use of the Roomba is for the handicapped or the elderly. Vacuuming the carpet or floor can be a tedious job especially when you are unable to stand for long.
The cons? It is a little noisy and it may sometimes get stuck and unable to maneuver itself out, especially at corners. It is unable to clean the stairs, so IRobot engineers need to develop some form of legs for this cleaner. It is also a little pricey but you can get a discounted one from carpet cleaning supplies store.
